Sustainability

SustainabilityBayshore Shopping Centre is committed to doing our part to minimize our impact on the environment and build stability and longevity in the marketplace. We have participated in waste diversion programs now for over 25 years. Our vision of providing our customers and retailers with the resources at the centre which allows them to recycle assists with maintaining an overall sustainable life. Our Energy Management PolicyCushman & Wakefield recognizes their role in Environmental Stewardship and is committed to continuous improvement. Cushman & Wakefield created ACT initiatives (Always Consider Tomorrow) to achieve this improvement. A sustainable future at Cushman & Wakefield includes a strong focus on reducing our environmental footprint to create a better working environment for our employees, tenants, contractors, and customers. This requires consideration of the ecological impacts associated with the way we do business and making continuous changes to better our environment.RecyclingBayshore strives to recycle as many materials as possible. Currently, we have the capability of recycling cardboard, fine paper, newsprint, boxboard, glossy paper, aluminum cans, steel cans, glass bottles and jars, grease, wooden pallets, coffee grounds, ink cartridges and light bulbs. All materials used or produced within the centre are carefully examined to determine or identify potential recycling. Garbage receptacles have been recently relabeled to ensure readability in order to ensure items are recycled properly.BeehivesThe roof at Bayshore Shopping Centre is now home to more than 15,000 honey bees thanks to a recently launched green project. The initiative includes installing two beehives, which produces 30kg of honey each year. The beehives were installed in partnership with Alveole, which has partnered with hundreds of companies and schools to initiate beekeeping projects.
